Friends of PiDome

The bringing together of the best sensors and actors (as in price/performance, ergonomics, technique) for different applications is not easy because the communication of this is limited.

The RFXCOM transceivers have the solution for this. The RFXCOM transceiver will connect most sensors and actors with almost every computer program.

Sensors collect information whilst actors activate an action. In order to run a process automatically it is necessary to have scenarios. One item of sensor information, or a combination there of, leads to the developing of a script thus creating intelligent management. The creativity of the manager in combination with the available points of measure and action determine what can be realized in the domains of security, comfort, energy and care.

In order to process a script one needs a computer with the correct program, for example PiDome.

There is a solution for every budget, whether you opt for shareware, a professional solution or a DIY project.

RFXCOM offers the solution in translating the wireless messaging traffic from sensors and actors of different manufacturers to standardized information, which then is exchanged with the relevant software.

UniPi Board has 8 changeover relays, 14 digital inputs, single channel 1-Wire interface, 2 analog inputs 0-10V and one analog 0-10V output. Furthermore the second I2 port of the RPi features 5V level converter and ESD protection, so you can easily connect other devices.

In the case you need more relays, outputs or inputs we provide many various extensions (I2C extensions, which are conncted via I2C channel and also 1-Wire extensions - these communicate via 1-Wire protocol, which can be used for very long distances and smartly benefits from low-cost digital sensors). It's possible to connect as much as 8 extensions to one board!

Third part of the UniPi smart-control system are all the devices connected to the UniPi, such as magnetic contacts, 1-Wire digital thermometers or humidity and light-intensity sensors.

The range of tools and products are from bug report systems to continuous integration, code hosting and business projects management and more.

Code hosting is done by the popular Bitbucket service which we are using since the beginning of the project. Bitbucket provides both GIT and Mercurial repositories from which we use the latter.

As our projects grow and we are planning to find more people to help developing PiDome we where in the need to move from the Bitbucket issue system to a more robust system providing feature requests, bug reporting, user stories (short descriptions), epics (major changes) and tasks. We found Jira suiting our needs and have filed for an open source license which has been approved by Atlassian.
